The Thoroughbred Racing Development Centre – 2025 Graduation
The Racehorse Owners Association was pleased to attend the Work Riders Graduation Ceremony held on the 5th of December at the Thoroughbred Racing Development Centre in Eikenhof. The occasion celebrated the achievements of the participants who were awarded certificates and trophies for the various stages they successfully completed, while also recognizing those who qualified to compete in Work Rider races.
James Maree extended his sincere thanks to his dedicated team, including Marthinus Minnie for his ongoing support of the program and the students, Piet Nhlapo, for ensuring reliable transport to and from the various centres, and Eldine for her valuable assistance on the farm.
Addressing the graduates, James encouraged them to remain committed to continually developing their skills. He emphasized the many opportunities available within the industry, not only to showcase their talent but also to support their families and explore the world. James explained that fewer students qualified to compete in Work Rider races this term, reiterating that the program maintains a consistent high standard. He stressed that the safety of both horses and riders remains paramount and encouraged graduates to perform at their best to instill confidence among owners and trainers when selecting riders for their horses in these races.
The ROA extends its thanks to James Maree for the invitation to attend this meaningful occasion. The ceremony concluded with heartfelt appreciation from Mr Maree to all the organizations that contribute to the success of the program, including 4Racing, Racing Today, the National Horseracing Authority and the Racehorse Owners Association.
