Women’s Day with Avroy Shlain
Women’s Day Celebrated in Style at Turffontein Racecourse with Avroy Shlain, the ROA and 4Racing.
On Saturday the 9th of August, Turffontein Racecourse came alive as we celebrated National Women’s Day in style. Proudly sponsored by Avroy Shlain, the day paid tribute to women in horseracing and beyond.
The first 200 ladies in attendance were spoiled with stunning goodie bags valued at R695 each and included some of Avroy Shlain’s latest products. This gesture was a perfect way to kick off a day of racing and celebration. Avroy Shlain experience stations were set up in the Elevation Room and in the parade ring and provided guests the opportunity to try new fragrances, both in their men and women’s ranges, as well as receive more information about the brand and their products.
A highlight on the racecard was the Avroy Shlain MR 84 Handicap, run over 1400m, which saw Pressonregardless power home to victory for owners John Fourie & Lee Harvey, trained by David Nieuwenhuizen and piloted by Craig Zackey.
In a beautiful tribute, the remainder of the races were named after the female trainers on the Highveld, honoring their resilience, hard work, and passion for the sport.

Race 5 – THE ROA WISHES THE LADIES HAPPY WOMENS DAY MR 66 HANDICAP
Race 6 – CANDICE DAWSON CLASSIFIED STAKES
Race 7 – AVROY SHLAIN MR 84 HANDICAP
Race 8 – DIANNE STENGER CLASSIFIED STAKES
Race 9 – HEATHER ADAMSON MR 100 HANDICAP
The Avroy Shlain executive team joined us for the event, and for some, it was a first time visit to Turffontein so they were treated to a behind-the-scenes raceday tour and visited the start for a view of the horses jumping from the start. They enjoyed a day of exciting racing, an electric atmosphere, and, most importantly, celebrating our shared values of championing women.
