Hennenman Memorial Raceday
The Hennenman Memorial raceday took place at Turffontein on the 12th of April. This marked the 37th anniversary of this air disaster that claimed the lives of 24 individuals, among them the most cherished members of our industry, when a United Airways flight crashed on 12 April 1988 on its way back from a race meeting in Bloemfontein.
The day was filled with heartfelt moments, tears, memories, and a strong sense of unity. The presence of the families in attendance brought added depth to the commemorations, reminding all in attendance of the personal lives and stories behind each name. A wreath was laid at the statue as a tribute to the lives lost on that fateful day.
Clyde Basel did an interview with Racing Today in honour of the day.
