Classic Day Final Fields

The exciting second leg of the SA Triple Crown and Wilgerbosdrift Triple Tiara will take place at Turffontein on Saturday, 1 March, with a host of thrilling feature races including the R1 250 000 Wilgerbosdrift SA Fillies Classic (G1) and the R1 500 000 TAB SA Classic (G1) both run over 1800m on the Standside track.

Trainer Alec Laird has three contenders in the TAB SA Classic (G1) including winner of the first leg of the Triple Crown, Parisian Walkway, as well as Aristotle and Fire Attack. Here is the final field for the Grade 1 TAB SA Classic:

The Wilgerbosdrift SA Fillies Classic (G1) will be an interesting rematch between Spumante Dolce and VJ’s Angel after an exhilarating Gauteng Fillies Guineas race.

The Wilgerbosdrift HF Oppenheimer Horse Chestnut Stakes (G1) will see White Pearl, the only filly in the race, take on the boys for the R1 500 000 stake prize.

A 16-horse field is carded for the running of the TAB JJ The Jet Plane Stakes (G3) to sprint home from the 1000m mark and we will see Mover And Shaker defending his title, contesting against a strong field.

There will also be three exciting Listed races run on the day. The first two races carded include the Wilgerbosdrift Ruffian Stakes and the TAB Storm Bird Stakes where we will see the juvenile fillies and colts make their mark. Race 5 sees the running of the Wilgerbosdrift Acacia Stakes for fillies and mares.

We look forward to an exciting Classic Day and welcoming you to Turffontein!
