Work Riders Graduation Ceremony

The Thoroughbred Racing Development Centre
The Racehorse Owners Association was delighted to attend the Work Riders graduation ceremony on the 6th of December at the Thoroughbred Racing Development Centre in Eikenhof. We celebrated with the participants who received their certificates and trophies for the various stages of the course they had passed and were excited to see others who qualified to ride in Work Rider races.

James Maree thanked his team, including Marthinus Minnie who assists with the program and the students, Piet Nhlapo who transports everyone to and from the various centres, and Eldine for the assistance on the farm.

James encouraged the graduates to remain committed to developing their skills. He highlighted the global demand for Work Riders and mentioned a few graduates of the course who are now very successful. He spoke about the abundant opportunities for these individuals to showcase their talent, be able to support their families and explore different parts of the world.

A key aspect of James’s message was the importance of races specifically programmed for Work Riders. He noted that these races provide invaluable experience and a platform for these graduates to showcase their skills.

The ceremony concluded with heartfelt thanks from Mr Maree to all the entities that contributed to the success of the program including 4Racing, the National Horseracing Authority and the ROA.

Congratulations to all the participants and graduates of this wonderful transformative program! We wish them many successes in their careers going forward.
