Rise and Shine with the ROA
The Racehorse Owners Association hosted a delightful morning event, Rise and Shine, on Saturday, 23 November 2024, inviting everyone to experience the magic of horses in early morning action. Held at the Randjesfontein Training Centre during track work, the event brought together a vibrant mix of owners, trainers, jockeys, apprentices, and stakeholders, along with families, friends and racing enthusiasts.
Attendees were treated to a variety of fresh brews and tasty breakfast options while enjoying the beautiful sunny morning and the sight of thoroughbreds preparing for upcoming races, all compliments of the ROA. The atmosphere was festive, filled with camaraderie and shared passion for the sport.
We truly appreciated the support from the trainers in attendance and their various owners including Corne Spies, Mike de Kock, Sean Tarry, James Crawford, Paul Matchett, Alec Laird and Phillip and Jeanique Vermeulen. We also had a number of prominent owners in attendance, including Arun Chadha, Adv Louis Cortez, Anton Marx, Bradley Ralph, Garth Towell, Mark Campbell, Taryn and Bryan Spong, Trevelen Pillay, Vasan Harry and many others. We hosted approximately 150 guests throughout the course of the morning and thanks must also go to 4Racing and the executives who attended in support.
Mike de Kock, who attended the breakfast, said: “I am very pleased with what I saw and glad that the ROA took the initiative. There was a festive atmosphere, and we had a good opportunity to socialise in a first-class facility. Randjesfontein is ideal for this kind of function. It brings horse and racing enthusiasts together in a beautiful and relaxing environment, and good acquaintances are made.” (www.mikedekockracing.com)
This initiative successfully fostered connections within the racing community, providing a unique opportunity for families and passionate equine enthusiasts to come together. The ROA was thrilled with the wonderful turnout and plans to host more events like this in the future.
