Laurence Wernars is no stranger to the number 1 box. He is the ROA’s Owner of the Week after victories by Litigation and Reunion at Turffontein on 19 February. The Sean Tarry trained Litigation won the Egoli Mile (NBT) over 1600 metres with Gavin Lerena in the saddle. After 8 starts, this three year old colt has delivered 3 wins and 3 places. He was bred at Avontuur Thoroughbred Farm – Greys Inn (USA) – Jeter by Jet Master and is owned by Messrs JF and LMF Wernars, H Wilson and Miss Pippa Mickleburgh. The next race on the day went to Reunion who won a Pinnacle Stakes over 1800 metres after starting out as favourite. This four year old gelding won first time out and has delivered 5 victories. The winner had jockey Warren Kennedy in the saddle and is from the Paul Peter stable. He was bred at Wilgerbosdrift and Mauritzfontein and is owned by JT Peter, JF and LMF Wernars.
