Freddie van Wyk earned the Gauteng Owner of the Week honour for his win by Pacific Trader (in partnership with Mr MJ Maritz) in the R1 million Grade 1 Computaform Sprint at Turffontein on 4 May. Pacific Trader won by a short head in a thrilling finish under the ride of maestro jockey Piere Strydom. The four year old gelding is from the Brett Crawford stable and was bred at Ascot Stud – Sail from Seattle (Can) – Agbalat (GB) – Cape Cross (Ire). This was Pacific Trader’s 5th career win.
