East Cape Horse Care Unit Charity Race Day
The racing community will unite for a truly meaningful occasion on 20 March 2026 at Fairview Racecourse when the East Cape Horse Care Unit hosts its Charity Race Day. The ECHCU continues to play a vital role in protecting and caring for horses in the region, and the support for this year’s event has been nothing short of inspiring.
Stud farms, bookmakers, owners, trainers, equestrians, and numerous racing-affiliated brands and individuals have rallied behind the initiative by sponsoring and donating through the purchase of “bricks” building a symbolic Wall of Welfare.
Racegoers can also look forward to a charity auction featuring an exceptional selection of prizes, including:
- A framed photograph of the SA Rugby World Cup Champions by renowned sports photographer Kevin James
- An A4 portrait of your beloved pet
- Beautiful horse statues
- Signed photographs by legendary jockey Frankie Dettori
- An A3 horse portrait by Jan Elliot Art
Adding further excitement to the day are two feature Listed races, the East Cape Guineas and the East Cape Sprint Cup, promising thrilling competition and top-class racing action.
